People who are thinking of adopting need to be aware of a parrot rescue near Omemee, Ontario.
They are only interested in how much money they can get for an adoption fee. Not the parrot. Fact be known they get donations for food and cages so why are they even charging an adoption fee. They don't have the best interest of the parrot in mind. Only how much money they can get.
This is also the same rescue that scammed the public & business in 2006. Claiming they wanted to have a action to raise money to build a 20 ft by 40 ft aviary that will house the large birds at the rescue. 131 companies got scammed into thinking they were doing something good. In the end the parrots got nothing and they owners laughed all the way to the bank.

September 5, 2010. We have been getting allot of feed back about our no money adoption and people do agree that parrot rescues that have sponsors for food like most of us do should not be charging money for adoption fees. We have herd some horror stories of a parrot rescue near Sault Ste. Marie that are in fact a registered Charity. The number of sponsors they have is around 23 which also includes Mark Hagen who donates food to them as he does us and others.
We asked the founder once why they charge money for adoption fees when they have sponsors including Mark Hagen for food and they said quote that they are $48,000 in the hole from opening. They have to charge adoption fees to pay this off. So they are doing this off the backs of parrots that need help. This rescue is no different than the one that had the auction for a building and in the end no building and $1,000s of dollars gone. It is really sad that these rescues and many others that have sponsors still feel they have to get money for adoption fees. Many good loving people miss out on having a parrot because these rescues feel money is more important that the parrot.
September 3, 2010. The vet was here tonight, attending to one of our pets. Check out our comments about what he thought of Oz and we also have a picture of him taken tonight. Oz's Road Too Recovery We have had a few phone calls this week asking us for references. We have mention to contact our vet as he is here all the time. Nicholls Animal Hospital Dr. Shawn Tucker 519-641-2999. We are thinking extending our adoption program to Nova Scotia. We have had quite a few applications from that area. More about that at a later date.
September 2, 2010. We had a call today about a cockatiel that was is lost. Please go to our Nine One One Lost & Found Birds for more info. We have been busy with building our toy site. More to come on this at a later date.
September 1, 2010. Another sad story has come to our attention about people giving $800.00 to a parrot rescue in Ontario which we likely know which one. 3 months later the parrot died. They called the rescue and they said the parrot was healthy when it was with them. They lady said how would you know when the parrot never saw a vet. The lady said the rescue hung the phone up. We can't express enough to people don't give any money to a parrot rescue until they get the parrot tested. Or like this woman and many other people that have adopted from this rescue you loose and they win because they have your money. One should take into consideration that this rescue also can't account for $1,000s dollars from a fundraising auction.
Claiming they wanted to have a action to raise money to build a 20 ft by 40 ft aviary that will house the large birds at the rescue. 131 companies got scammed into thinking they were doing something good. In the end the parrots got nothing and they owners laughed all the way to the bank. This rescue is using parrots to scam the public for money. Nothing more. They prove that in their post.
People have to start realizing that very few parrot rescues have to advertise they have parrots for adoption, because most have a waiting list. The ones that have to advertise I would really think twice about them. Think about this a parrot rescue advertising they have parrots for adoption. Than you read a post from the owners stating the truth.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to foster aggressive birds out?
Specially the large birds. The one catalina lunges at everyone but Brett
but as soon as he goes to touch her she starts moaning and panting. She did
rip the top of his finger off once also. To top that off she is feathering
up but mostly bald. The blue and gold is so underweight and will never get
her feathers back due to the follicle damage but she is getting better for
us. The two timnehs are not so great. Both males, badly plucked, I have
managed to finally get them both to step up but are unpredictable and will
bite once they get on you.
The yellow collar macaw is the worst. He wants
no human contact with anyone other that 2 people I have seen but due to the
look of him, neither were interested as he is missing feathers from his
cheek patches down and all around his neck. Some are starting to grow back
but not sure how many he will get. ALL of their hormones are just below the
surface and panting starts almost instantly with touching.
Eventually we will have success with these birds but it will probably take a
couple of years. We finally win them over and fix them and they bond to us
only we have to rehome them again. It is harmful and I would like to see
the practice stopped.
Why not just buy breeders rather than turn these poor pet birds into
something they are not. It all boils down to saving a few bucks or getting a free bird.
N.D
They seem to think as they say "Quote" It all boils down to saving a few bucks or getting a free bird."Unquote" "wow" what a statement when they get the parrots free to begin with, and they save bucks by not taking them to the vet. Likely a disease pit too. They don't feel that they have to get the parrots tested for disease which they put all the parrots at risk of getting sick. But it is okay for them to post parrots for adoption when really they are not adoptable to begin with from what they say. Who is calling the kettle black?
We see they again have been advertising in the same room they posted these un-adoptable parrots. The public have a right to know the truth about these parrots before they hand over hundreds of dollar for a nasty parrot. Although people feel sorry for these parrots when they see them, you also must think about the pets you have at home, if these parrots are sick, diseases are airborne which means you can carry the diseases home to your pets and worse case they could die or you can get very sick. Something to think about when adopting from this rescue or any rescue that does not get parrots disease tested before being adopted out.
